This week we are required to analyse two academic articles that we have found.

Paper 1

  – It states that it was for the academic journal of Environmental Research and Public Health
  – It states which academic institute the authors come from
  – The academic institutes are reputable
  – It fits the structure
• how well it fits the ‘structure of an academic article’  that I described in my previous post
  Not as well as the second paper but still relatively well. May not be a “typical” structure
• how many references it has
  30
• how many citations it has (if you can find out)
  None as far as I can tell
• for articles that you found online,  the url of the article

• say whether you are interested in properly reading the article or not (and give some reasons!)
  Actually kind of interested since I do not know much about big data or pandemics.

  I used the ScienceDirect research database found on the NMIT website. I used facial recognition and emotion as keywords.

  Conference paper

  – It fits the structure
  – It states what schools were apart of it
  – State its peer reviewed
• how well it fits the ‘structure of an academic article’  that I described in my previous post
  Very well, it’s only missing a proper literature review.

  None I believe

  I have to read it for assignment two and I also have some interest in facial and emotion recognition technology. I studied this in PFW601 last year so it ties in with that.
