This week I am reviewing Erik’s area of interest activity from last week. He has posted it on his blog.

I think Erik’s area of interest is a very good one and one that will likely have a lot of possibilities and opportunities involved with it. It’s an area which can be very helpful for people and be of great use. We have all seen how essential online learning resources are with the recent COVID pandemic.

I think that Erik is spot on where he states that most online learning systems are catered to the western world and not optimised for slow internet or offline use. Current education systems are also very protective over their data and knowledge since there is money to be made through these systems.

I believe that if Erik could create a platform that was light-weight and accessible with slow or no internet there would be a huge market for it. Perhaps not so much in the western world but other countries where education is less widely available. These countries could really benefit and there is an opportunity to help a lot of people which is always a plus when doing anything. You would need to cater to a variety languages though since many people can’t speak english.

If I am correct, Erik is already working on his project in this area so it will be very exciting to see what he comes up with. This is definitely an area worth pursuing with a lot of possibilities.
